Dear Bakers,

It’s December tomorrow, which means only 3 and a half weeks until Christmas (eek!!) and it’s also time for the next baking round: the Christmas Round on Sunday 13 December!

It’s a mad hectic time of year for everyone but if you can spare a little bit of time for the next Baking for Hospice round coming up it would be so so so appreciated because the Christmas Round is when we get to show the hospice patients, families and wonderful staff we are thinking about them and sharing our love with them this Christmas time 🙂

For the theme this round it’s: A Kiwi Christmas – so think summery baking, kiwi classics, savouries and sweets and of course Christmas themed goodies are always welcome!

The drop off times are below, thank you once again to our amazing drop off site people for giving up their homes/work places to let us drop off baking!

Hello bakers,

Just a quick reminder that the next baking round is this Sunday 4 October! It’s round 37 and it’s the Garden Party Round inspired by the Garden Grandeur event hosted by the St Peter’s Anglican Church in November for the North Shore Hospice.

Be inspired by spring time baking, fresh flowers, fruits and veges, greenery and gorgeous gardens galore!

Thanks heaps to all those who have emailed already. If you haven’t done so and think you can bake please flick me an email to let me know:

1) If you are baking and what you think you might bake.

2) Where you think you will be dropping off the baking to.

3) How many cake boxes you think you will be needing.
Thanks again lovely bakers!
Nessie 🙂

 Dear Bakers,
The next round is next week! Sunday 21 June is baking day for all your marvelous creations. The theme is “All you need is Love” for lovingly lovely baking creations. Of course the theme is just for fun so don’t feel like you have to bake to theme if you have some delicious baked good you were planning to make. This round in particular the North Shore Hospice has asked for goodies that could be served at their annual function held for all their amazing volunteers. So think party/nibbly food, especially items that are freezable.  The lovely Michelle from North Shore Hospice wanted to thank everyone in advance:

Thank you in advance to all you wonderful bakers and of course Nessie who does an incredible job organising this event.

We look forward to seeing all your fabulous treats that are enjoyed by all involved with HNS.

The drop off timetable is below- check the right column for the sites that go to the different hospices :

Dear Bakers,

Hospice Awareness Week is next week 18th – 24th May 2015! Thank you so so much to all those who have already raised their hand to help out – you are amazing!  The hospices rely so heavily on donations and community support to continue to provide their incredible services for free so thank you so so much for your time and energy and support you wonderful people!

The hospices are still looking for more volunteers so if you are able to lend a hand please check out below for what the North Shore Hospice and Mercy Hospice have lined up.

NORTH SHORE HOSPICE:

All the New World and Pak n Save stores on the North Shore will once again be running the Add A Dollar for Hospice campaign during our Awareness Week.

The North Shore Hospice are still falling short at some stores. If you are able to help out and volunteer for a couple of hours at your local store during the Awareness Week that would be fantastic.

During the weekend of 22-24 May Hospice North Shore will also have a presence in our Local Malls with community tables with information about the services Hospice provides and also donation buckets. They are also require volunteers to man this table and chat to the public if needed.

If you can help with either of these please contact Lynn Kenyon at
Lynn.Kenyon@hospicenorthshore.org.nz or DDI 09 485 3504

MERCY HOSPICE:

Mercy Hospice are still seeking volunteers to do bucket collection for Hospice Awareness Week this year. The dates are 21st – 23rd May and we’d love to have your company on the streets of Auckland collecting for Mercy Hospice.

They are particularly looking to fill Thursday shifts at Pak N Save Mount Albert, and Saturday shifts at Countdown Mt Roskill and New World Mt Roskill, as well as shifts on all three days at Onehunga. Other sites are also still needing volunteers.

If you can help please contact: Rebecca Hill on 361 5966 ex. 741, rebecca.hill@mercyhospice.org.nz

HOSPICE CUPPA

Also both the Mercy Hospice and the North Shore Hospice are also involved in the Hospice Cuppa campaign -anyone who wishes to register to host a Hospice Cuppa can go to http://www.hospicecuppa.co.nz and they can choose the Hospice they wish to support 🙂

Hello lovely bakers!
Just a reminder that the next round is coming up! Sunday 29 March is the day to jot down in your diary.

Thanks to all the people who emailed to suggest a theme – the vast majority voted for an Easter themed round and looking back we actually haven’t had this theme before so Easter it is! So think of your fav Easter goodies be it inspired by hot cross bun spices, spring, chocolate eggs or any of your fav Easter goodies! Good old pinterest also has LOADS of Easter inspo if you are feeling stuck: https://www.pinterest.com/search/pins/?q=easter

Of course you don’t have to bake to theme – the Hospices love shortbread, loaves, slices, anything that keeps well and would work well for patients (soft, easy to eat, not too much colouring)

The drop off sites and times are below: (please check your email for more details). Please note we have a slightly later time for the Albany drop off (Philippa’s place).

Dear Bakers,
Thank you for your patience over the yea! I’ve survived the finals exams yay! Have really appreciated your words of support and your putting up with late email replies and wrap ups!
Now that I’ve come out of exam induced hibernation, it is already time for the next round. I can’t believe I’m typing this but Christmas is coming up and that means it’s time for our annual Christmas Round! This year it will be on Sunday 14 December.
I understand that is a crazy busy time of year – so any baking you can donate is so appreciated! It’s the time of year when a little love through baking can mean so much to the patients, their families, the staff and we can also help ease the load on the volunteers working hard to provide morning teas and functions at the hospices.  The hospices love both Christmassy and non-Christmassy baking so they have goodies to help with the festive season and into the New Year, so if you have a special yuletide recipe you would like to make that would be amazing but all the old favs – loaves, slices, shortbread, savouries – would be perfect too!
The drop off sites and times are below: (please check your email for more details)
