The votes are in and the top themes were Mid winter and Matariki so lets have a Mid Winter Matariki Theme!
Matariki, or the traditional Maori New Year is marked by the rise of the Pleiades constellation of stars, also known as The Seven Sisters. It’s a time for families to get together to remember loved ones and celebrate life. Traditionally kites are flown, as they are seen to fly close to the stars.
So for baking think pretty stars, warming winter spices, kites, koru, family baking, anything red, black and white. Or maybe incorporate some uniquely kiwi: puha, kumara, choccy fish, kiwi fruit! Fun!
So our Mid Winter Matariki round, Round 22 will be on Sunday 24 June. Am in the process of finalizing the drop off time table with our gorgeous ladies at each drop off site so keep an eye on your emails!
And I totally forgot to include this collage in the last wrap up. These are gorgeous baked goodies from the amazingly talented Nuan who always drops off her baking to the hospice earlier and emails me piccies.
Hope you are all keeping warm!
