It’s such an incredible couple of months for Baking for Hospice. We are baking for the North Shore Hospice, Totara Hospice South Auckland AND will soon be baking for Mercy Hospice too!
Mercy Hospice Auckland supports for people living in the Auckland District Health Board area by providing a range of specialist community palliative care and hospice services for people facing life limiting illnesses. They also offer support to family, friends and carers to help them cope with problems arising from the illness and to rebuild their lives afterwards. Mercy Hospice covers Auckland City and the central suburbs from Glendowie in the east to Avondale in the west, Herne Bay in the north to Mount Wellington in the south. Specialist inpatient care is also provided to people from Waiheke and the islands of the Hauraki Gulf. Their services are provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and are offered free to patients and their families, regardless of age, ethnicity, means or religion, thanks to the generosity of the community.
Thanks to the hard work of Aimee, all the baking going to our new drop off site in Hillsborough will go to Mercy Hospice in Ponsonby starting in February! Mercy aren’t quite ready for our baking influx until our February round but I thought we’d set up the drop off site anyways to get everything in place!
Aimee came on board Baking for Hospice this year and was really keen to help set something up for Mercy Hospice.
“When I came across Nessie’s Baking for Hospice site, I thought the idea of doing something you love that will comfort others was perfect!
A while ago my family relied heavily on the Mercy Hospice in Ponsonby after my grandad was diagnosed with terminal stomach cancer. The staff were so wonderful and helped out in every way imaginable, which really took the pressure off my mum and nan. Now I’m a bit older and wiser its great to be able to help them out and repay some of their kindness.
Mercy Hospice would love to be able to use any baking goods for a food programme they run on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Any slices or biscuits or baking that will keep well for several days would be fantastic, but everything is more than appreciated!”
So HUMUNGOUS thank you to Aimee for getting our Mercy Hospice run up and running! You are so awesome!!
