Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire: it is the time for home ~Edith Sitwell
This round our bakers pulled out all the stops to get into the wintry theme! It was awesome to see all that creative, snowy and beautiful looking baking – my what a talented bunch!
Our bakers embraced the cool theme (yes that’s right a temperature pun – da dum chi!) with snowflake decorations, snowball shaped treats, snowy coconut toppings and winter inspired flavours like apple, dates, and cinnamon.
There were a string of kitchen equipment failures for the bakers at the Albany drop off site, with Dave and Trina’s having to use their toaster oven and Jayne’s mixer going kaput, but they still managed to produce gorgeous looking baking.
Thank you to drop off site ladies: Diana, Philippa, Dani and Kathryn for taking time out of your busy lives to let us inundate your houses with baking.
Special thanks to Kathryn who still offered to be a drop off site even though she is totally run off her feet coz she and her friend Coleen have just opened their first cupcake shop! Delish Cupcakes is at shop 4, 14-16 Raines Ave in Forrest Hill just off Tristram Ave. Their cupcakes are ah-mazing and so so pretty so if you are around that area, please do go and check them out 🙂
Congratulations to one of our bakers Leanne who just had a wee baby!
And a big warm Baking for Hospice welcome to Jayne, Joy, Rebekah, Lesley, Irene, Penny, Catherine, Emily, Miriam and Kate who have just joined our mailing list. It’s super cool to have you on board!
Round 12 will be on Sunday 17 October and I thought seeing as we’ve had a Mum themed round and Father’s Day is in September let’s make the round 12 theme all about Dads 🙂
