Autumn is upon us: the mornings are getting chilly and it’s getting darker and darker, earlier and earlier. It’s not all bad news though with feijoas and quinces starting to show up at the vege stores, that extra hour sleep in with daylight savings and the Baking for Hospice Autumn Round! Our bakers celebrated the changing of the seasons this round with beautiful autumnal treats…
A big thank you to Pavanie, Kate, Judy, Danielle, Jen, Kathryn, Colleen, Barbara, Alison, Philippa, Leanne, Jenny, Anna and Louise for baking this round and really getting into the theme. Also huge thank yous to Pavanie, Ally and Henry for their help towards petrol 🙂
And a massive shout out to our drop off site hosts: Diana in Epsom who came all the way back from a weekend at Piha for us, Philippa who was looking after kiddies on school holidays, Danielle who had a wee one having a bad day and Kathryn and Colleen who still offered to be a drop off site even though they were throwing a birthday party for little Harrison (happy birthday little man!). You ladies are incredible so sending massive thank you hugs for being so amazing!
A warm welcome to all those who have just signed on with us. Hello to Anna, Rebecca, Joanne, Lisa, Yasmin, Louise, Kitaj, Emma and Petra, thanks heaps for your emails and its great having you on board 🙂
I’d also like to say a big thank you to Anna of http://verysmallanna.com/ who generously shared her amazing recipe for her chardonnay cupcakes with poached quince and rosewater swiss meringue buttercream with me so that I could make my cupcakes this round. Thanks again Anna!
And last, but by no means least, a massive CONGRATULATIONS to one of our longest standing bakers, Tammy, who welcomed her gorgeous wee man Harry into the world in February. He is sooooo ADORABLE!!!! 🙂
Next round, Round 10, will be on Sunday 13 June 2010 and the theme, as a delayed tribute to Mother’s day, will be…Mothers. So let’s pay a baking homage to our Mothers next round, be it with a recipe your Mum always used to make, or something girly and pretty for Mum or even Mummy shaped cupcakes!
Take care all!
